I’m going to go ahead and file this under “things I wish I knew YEARS AGO”…

But alas! I know now, so let me show you what I’m doing!

This detergent is literally pennies per load, and a 2 gallon jug lasts me between 4-6 months (such a big window because I didn’t pay attention, but I know it was in there somewhere, lol)

OK, so now super quick, first let’s talk about WHY I choose non toxic laundry detergent:

It’s simple. I don’t want my body and my families bodies to have to fight our detergent since they have so many other things in our environment to fight, like colds and such.

Why would I weaken our system if I had another way? That was better on getting stains out….and cheaper?

Yeah, I don’t know either, lol!

Ok, so here goes:

My recipe as gone through in this video is as follows:

Grab a container, (glass is best in my opinion) I really like the drink dispensers because they’re cute and they work well, so there’s that.

Mine is 2 gallons, so the recipe is made for 2 gallons, divide it and math it out however you want 🙂

First, you put in 1/2 cup washing soda (I didn’t know what it was before I started doing this either, so I’ve added a link to what I use if you click on the word “washing soda”

Then put in enough warm distilled water to cover the soda and stir it up. (I get my distilled water from my Berkey. We never have plastic bottles in my home anymore, hallelujah!)

After that is all stirred up, add 1/2 cup of Thieves laundry detergent (if you don’t have it yet, just hit me up, and I’ll get you the hook up and some free stuff 😉 )

And yes, that’s right…only 1/2 cup of the detergent goes in here! Can you imagine how long that bottle lasts now??? Like a YEAR!? WHAT!?!?

Then 1/4 cup of Thieves Household Cleaner, I just love that we put the actual cleaner in here…our clothes are SOOOO CLEAN!

Then about 6-12 drops of whatever YL oil you would like. I use Purification because it’s an odor neutralizer, then I also add Thieves because well….Thieves.

After that is all mixed up, you just top it off with more distilled water and BOOM POW!!! You are DONE!

Look at you go!

I had someone just message me last week that this took out the stains that weren’t coming out with their other detergent….so what I’m saying is this.

It’s cheap. It’s super good. And my body doesn’t have to fight it. Win, win, win. Just like I like it ;).

Let me know in the comments what you think!

See you around friends!

Hi, thanks for this. I’m going to save this off into my Evernote, but was wondering if you could include the fact that you use 1/4 cup per load in the text part of this post too. Right now you have to listen to the video to get that fact, and I may prefer to look up a reminder without having to watch through the vid again. Thanks! 🙂

This sounds like the same recipe I use. I love that its non-toxic and so cheap to make. Also, way less waste than buying single use plastics.

    Thanks for sharing.

Once mixed up, how much do you use per regular load of laundry? Thanks
